Great vehicle if you're not paying for gas!   . . . . .
After driving this truck for 3 years, the only real complaint I have about it is the poor gas mileage. Unsurprising
given the large engine and the fact that it's a full-size truck. Other than that, no real complaints. The interior is
very roomy and comfortable (I bought it because I'm 6' 4" and need a lot of space). It's a King Cab so there is a back
seat but the seats are fold down and not recommended for long trips. It has a 6 CD stereo but w/out the upgraded
speakers. As a result the sound quality isn't great. The other issue with the stereo is the bright orange display. It
could use a dimmer. At night, the display reflects onto the rear window and can be distracting in the rear view mirror.
The controls are simple and easy to manage with steering wheel mounted stereo and cruise controls. Mine has the
shifter on the steering column and a small design flaw makes it very easy to hit the washer control lever when shifting
into park. I have the tow package and the ride can be a little stiff. I've also experienced a harmonic bounce on some
of the highways usually in the 3 or 4 lane where the tractor trailers drive. My friend had the 4WD version and it was
much worse for him. Other than that, it handles well (at least for a big truck) but don't expect to make small diameter
turns. U-turns can be difficult even with 2 lanes and you can forget it with 1 lane traffic. Parking can also be a bit
of a chore since it's so large but the rear backup sensors are a must-have and make a huge difference. I don't use it
to carry a lot of stuff but on the occasion I have, it will haul a lot. The utili-track system is great allowing for
multiple placement of tie-down clamps along the side of the bed and in the bed itself. It has a spray-on bedliner that
has worn very well. I added a hard shell tonneau cover (ARE) that gives me a 1 - 1.5 mpg mileage increase (plus it
looks good). The truck has more than enough power (I have to be careful accelerating to prevent wheel spin) but the
engine is not high-tech. Variable timed valves or cylinder deactivation would help the abysmal mileage. That being
said, it is what it is: a great looking, driving full-size truck!
