Question: Drivers side front wheel squeaks with rotation at all speeds

The squeak comes and goes, but when the squeak is absent, sometimes there is an equally regular click. Both the squeak or click stop with any application of the breaks. There is no ABS. Pads and rotors were replaced 21,000 miles ago. Most miles are on expressway, and both sounds started about a month ago and have continued on and off since. I've checked the rotor -- no deep scratches or burrs, no 'burn' spots and its tight. Pads look evenly worn with plenty of life. No signs of fluid leak and reservoir is full. CV boot is intact no tear, crack or sign of leakage. Tie rod end is tight and looks in good shape. Since the squeak is not constant, I don't think its the wheel bearing ... but, what could it be? Any ideas? What might be a remedy?
