Question: cv boots start to crack, prevent w/ adhesive?

At the dealer shop recently, I was told both my front cv boots (driver & passenger side) were badly torn and needed replacement. $1400.

I didn't like the price and said no. Took a look at them myself, and they are NOT even torn yet. But both of them do have a fine crack, all the way around in one of the "valleys". It hasnt torn through yet though.

Is there any kind of sealer or adhesive or something I can apply to the crack to fix it and avoid replacing the cv joints? I thought about epoxy.. that would fix it Smile But it would also be so stiff it would probably cause wear and tear in one of the other "valleys".

Or, I've seen those boot repair kits that come in two halves where you cut the old boot off, then put the two halves together. I'm skeptical though. Do they work?

thanks
